The Forest Hills Gardens Foundation extends their sincere thanks to Rachel Kellner, owner of Aigner Chocolates on Metropolitan Ave for making us the beneficiary of their annual giant chocolate bunny raffle.

Here is the story as it appeared in the Queens Gazette:

Every year Aigner Chocolates on Metropolitan Avenue holds a fund-raising raffle. The tradition was started three years ago to assist Elmhurst Hospital Center during the Covid-19 pandemic. Each year Aigner has always included a local organization as an additional recipient.

“We dropped off Harvey, a three-foot, 25-pound bunny at Elmhurst last week as part of our new annual tradition that started during the pandemic. We also donated another Harvey as part of our raffle through the Forest Hills Gardens Foundation where we match funds, $1 for $1, and each ticket costs $1 each. Thrilled to share that we raised $498 this year!” said Rachel Kellner, owner of Aigner Chocolates (103-02 Metropolitan Avenue, Forest Hills, NY 11375; 718-544-1850; www.aignerchocolates.com).

“This year’s beneficiary is the Forest Hills Gardens Foundation, whose mission is the preservation of the rich cultural and architectural history of Forest Hills Gardens. We at the Forest Hills Gardens Foundation appreciate being part of such a wonderful local tradition, and for the thoughtfulness of Aigner Chocolates in trying to support our community,” said FHGF Director Mae Wu.

The Forest Hills Gardens Foundation’s mission is the preservation of the rich cultural and architectural history of The Gardens by archiving relevant documents and photographs both digitally and physically. Through the maintenance of a website, these documents and photographs are made accessible to the community at large. The archives and website are funded entirely through community outreach, such as Foundation-hosted public events that are of historical interest.
